Kapuche Snow Lake Trek is a relatively short and less crowded trekking route in Nepal, offering stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The highlight of the trek is Kapuche Lake, a glacial lake situated at an altitude of around 2,546 meters (8,353 feet). This lake is known for its crystal-clear waters and serene surroundings, making it a hidden gem for trekkers.

The trek typically starts from Sikles, a traditional Gurung village known for its rich culture and hospitality. The trail passes through lush forests, terraced fields, and small settlements, providing a glimpse into the rural lifestyle of the region. The trek is considered moderate in difficulty, making it accessible to both novice and experienced trekkers.

One of the unique aspects of the Kapuche Snow Lake Trek is its relatively short duration, usually taking around 3-4 days to complete. This makes it an ideal choice for those with limited time who still want to experience the beauty of the Himalayas and enjoy a peaceful trekking experience.

Itinerary

Day 1Drive from Pokhara to Sikles (Altitude 1980 m) Exploration of Sikles Village

After breakfast, embark on a scenic 3-hour off-road drive from Pokhara to Sikles, passing charming villages like Taprang and Chipli Gaun. Nestled at 1980 meters, Sikles is a picturesque Gurung village surrounded by lush hills and stunning mountain views. Explore its traditional architecture, visit the Eco-Museum, and climb the view tower for panoramic sights. For adventure, hike 30 minutes to Sikles Park or Rising Dada for breathtaking views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. Spend the night in a cozy village tea house, soaking in the warm hospitality and serene beauty of Sikles.

Day 2Trek from Sikles to Huwu (Hugu) (Altitude 2100 m)

Today begins your trekking adventure! After breakfast, you’ll ascend towards Huwu via ancient stone stairs and paths, leaving Sikles village behind. The trail unveils jaw-dropping views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal, their peaks glowing in the sunlight. The path narrows, hugging the hillside, offering thrilling vistas of lush valleys below.

A descent leads you to the stunning Edi Jharna, a 64-meter waterfall where the mist and roar of water refresh your spirit. After a short break, you’ll climb steep stone paths, crossing rivers and rustic bridges, surrounded by dense forests and riverside trails. The route is serene, with few villagers in sight, making it feel like a journey into untouched wilderness.

After 6 hours, you’ll reach Huwu, a peaceful village where you’ll stay in a basic tea house. Sleeping on a mat in a cozy sleeping bag, you’ll feel the raw simplicity of mountain life. As night falls, the star-filled sky above Huwu will remind you of the magic of the Himalayas. This is more than a trek—it’s a step into nature’s embrace.

Day 3 Trek from Huwu to Kahphuche Lake (Altitude 2450 m) and back to Sikles (Altitude 1980 m).

Today, as the first light of dawn kisses the horizon, you’ll embark on a serene trek from the quaint village of Huwa to the enchanting Kahphuche Lake, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Nepal. Known as the lowest glacial lake in the country, Kahphuche Lake rests gracefully at an elevation of 2,450 meters, cradled by the majestic Himalayas. The trail, a gentle and short path compared to others on your journey, offers a tranquil escape into nature’s embrace. As you walk, the crisp morning air carries the whispers of the forest, and the distant calls of wildlife create a symphony that accompanies your steps.

After a peaceful two-hour trek, you’ll arrive at the shores of Kahphuche Lake, a sight so breathtaking it feels like stepping into a dream. The lake’s crystal-clear waters shimmer like liquid sapphire, reflecting the towering peaks that surround it. The Annapurna range stands guard in the distance, their snow-capped summits glistening under the morning sun. The tranquility of the lake is almost otherworldly, a perfect mirror of the sky and mountains, creating a scene so surreal that no words or photographs could ever truly capture its essence.

As you stand there, enveloped by the raw beauty of nature, you might be fortunate enough to witness a rare spectacle—an avalanche cascading down the slopes of Annapurna II, a powerful reminder of the dynamic forces that shape this landscape. The sound of the distant rumble echoes through the valley, adding a touch of drama to the otherwise serene atmosphere.

After soaking in the awe-inspiring views and capturing a few fleeting moments with your camera, you’ll begin your journey back to Huwa village. The return trek feels lighter, as if the beauty of Kahphuche Lake has lifted your spirits and made the path seem shorter. From Huwa, you’ll retrace your steps to Sikles, carrying with you the memories of a morning spent in one of Nepal’s most magical corners—a place where nature’s grandeur leaves an indelible mark on your soul.
