Starting from Syabrubesi, the trail winds through dense forests, terraced fields, and traditional Tamang villages, providing insight into their rich Himalayan heritage.
As the trek progresses, the landscape transforms into alpine meadows and rugged terrains, leading to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m), a renowned Buddhist monastery with stunning views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m) and surrounding peaks. The route continues towards Gosaikunda Lake (4,380m), a sacred glacial lake revered by Hindus and Buddhists, especially during the Janai Purnima festival. Crossing the Lauribina Pass (4,610m), trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramas before descending towards the Helambu region.
With diverse landscapes, spiritual landmarks, and encounters with unique wildlife like red pandas and Himalayan tahrs, this trek is an unforgettable Himalayan adventure. Best undertaken in spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November), it typically takes 10–14 days and is suitable for trekkers with a moderate level of fitness.

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, a small village nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. The drive, which takes approximately 7-8 hours, meanders through winding roads with breathtaking views of terraced fields, lush greenery, and glimpses of distant peaks. As you approach Syabrubesi (1460m), you’ll notice the shift from urban landscapes to a more rugged and serene mountain setting, marking the start of your trek.
Today’s trek takes you from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel, a journey of about 5-6 hours. The trail follows the Langtang River, crossing several suspension bridges and passing through dense forests of bamboo and oak. As you gain elevation, the landscape gradually transforms, offering views of the majestic Langtang range. Arriving at Lama Hotel (2460m), you’ll settle in for the night, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the river and forest.
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll continue your trek to Langtang Village, located at an altitude of 3450 meters. The trail ascends through beautiful rhododendron forests and open meadows, offering glimpses of snow-capped peaks. Langtang Village is a picturesque settlement with traditional Tibetan-style houses, and it provides a wonderful opportunity to experience the local culture and hospitality.
Today’s trek takes you from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), a serene Buddhist monastery surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. The trail ascends through alpine meadows and rugged terrain, offering panoramic views of the Langtang Himalayas. Kyanjin Gompa is a popular spot for acclimatization and exploration, with its traditional gompa and breathtaking vistas.
A full day at Kyanjin Gompa allows you to acclimatize and explore the surrounding area. You can choose to hike up to Tsergo Ri (5033m) for spectacular views of the Langtang range and beyond, or opt for a shorter hike to Kyanjin Ri (4773m), both offering incredible panoramic vistas. This day provides a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the high Himalayas and experience the peaceful atmosphere of the region.
After your exploration day, you’ll trek back to Lama Hotel (2460m), retracing your steps through the Langtang Valley. The descent offers a different perspective of the landscape, with stunning views of the mountains and lush green forests. Upon reaching Lama Hotel, you’ll have time to relax and reflect on your journey.
oday’s trek leads you from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2250m). The trail descends through forests and terraced fields, eventually reaching the charming village of Thulo Syabru. This village offers a chance to experience local culture and enjoy the tranquil surroundings, providing a pleasant break from the more rigorous sections of the trek.
From Thulo Syabru, you’ll trek to Shin Gompa (3330m), a journey that takes you through lush forests and past traditional villages. The trail climbs steadily, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Shin Gompa, with its serene setting and beautiful surroundings, is an ideal spot to relax and acclimate.
Today’s trek takes you from Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda (4380m), a sacred alpine lake surrounded by high peaks. The trail ascends through rugged terrain and past several smaller lakes before reaching Gosaikunda. The serene atmosphere and stunning mountain views make this a memorable and spiritually uplifting destination.
After exploring Gosaikunda, you’ll trek to Ghopte (3430m) via the challenging Laurebina Pass (4610m). The ascent to the pass is steep and demanding, but the panoramic views from the top are well worth the effort. The descent to Ghopte is equally scenic, with stunning vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
Today’s trek takes you from Ghopte to Kutumsang (2470m) via Thadepati (3690m). The trail winds through diverse landscapes, including forests, meadows, and traditional villages. Kutumsang is a pleasant village where you can rest and enjoy the local hospitality after a rewarding day of trekking.
From Kutumsang, you’ll trek to Chisapani (2165m), a village known for its stunning views of the Himalayan range. The trail descends through lush forests and terraced fields, offering a gradual descent to Chisapani. The village provides a cozy and scenic place to unwind after your trek.
On the final day of trekking, you’ll make your way from Chisapani to Sundarijal (1460m). The trail descends through picturesque landscapes and small villages before reaching Sundarijal, where you’ll board a vehicle for the drive back to Kathmandu. The drive offers one last opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of the region as you return to the bustling city.
